SightseeingTASHKENT is the capital of Uzbekistan. It is the main metropolis of Central Asia, which reveals little of its 2000-year history as the crossroad of ancient trade routes. SHAKHRISABZ is the hometown of Central Asian famous conqueror Amir Temur (Tamerlane). ?Shakhrisabz? means, ?green town? and it is abundant in gardens and vineyards. TERMEZ is nothing but a city-survivor. It was conquered and destroyed many times, and it saw periods of prosperity and decline. Invaluable historical monuments were miraculously saved, and their mystery and uniqueness still enchants visitors. SAMARKAND is called "The Mirror of the World" and "The city of Famous Shadows". These names reveal Samarkand's having witnessed full development of Central Asian history. BUKHARA is also known as "Bukhara the holy", "Bukhara the noble", "The dome of Islam", "The pillar of religion", "The most intact city in the ancient east". This oldest city in Uzbekistan was established on the holy mound, where Zoroastrians placed their sacrificial offerings as it was portrayed in the Zoroastrian holy book "Avesta". KHIVA is the most intact and remote city of all Central Asian Silk Road places. Khiva is the collection of great monuments and splendid architectural ensembles. Photo gallery |
